Academic Dishonesty

Academic honesty is essential to STU’s scholarly community. Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to:

  • Plagiarism (including uncredited use of ideas, words, or media)
  • Cheating or unauthorized assistance during evaluations
  • Tampering with or sabotaging another student’s work
  • Submitting work without proper citation
  • Self-plagiarism (submitting the same work to multiple courses)
  • Data falsification or fraudulent documentation
  • Copyright or intellectual property violations
Reporting & Procedure:
  • Faculty must report suspected dishonesty to the Academic Standards Committee
  • An instructor may assign a failing grade for the assignment or course
  • The committee may escalate to a formal hearing
  • Students are entitled to written notice, a hearing, and an appeal
  • If academic dishonesty is confirmed and repeated, the student will be immediately expelled

The Registrar’s Office maintains clear procedures and documentation for resolution and appeals.
