St. Thomas University is committed to providing students with the resources and tools necessary to succeed in an online learning environment. From technology access to productivity strategies, STU ensures all students are equipped to thrive in virtual classrooms.
Technical Skills and Readiness for Online Success
To be effective in online learning, students should possess basic digital literacy, including:
- Navigating a web browser
- Using an office productivity suite (e.g., word processor, spreadsheets, presentations)
- Accessing and submitting coursework online
- Managing their time and minimizing distractions
STU provides recommendations for both software and hardware to optimize learning. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of online tutorials and how-to videos available through various platforms such as YouTube to reinforce their tech skills.
Key to success: Online learning offers flexibility, but requires self-motivation, organization, and comfort with digital tools to maximize the experience.
