ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY SYSTEM
STU embraces the American model of distance learning with a mission to foster human connection—despite geographic boundaries—through digital education.
Our pedagogical model, Innovative Didactics, is built on:
- Multimedia tools and interactive materials
- Personalized learning paths
- System interoperability for seamless use
- Flexible access for diverse student needs
- Emphasis on collaboration and dialogue through guided tutor support and peer engagement
All educational activities are conducted within a web-based Learning Management System (LMS). STU’s approach ensures that students are never isolated; instead, they are integrated into a learning community, supported by tutors and peers.
Our system enables:
- Reduced reliance on physical infrastructure
- Elimination of travel-related barriers
- Accommodation of working professionals, remote learners, and students with disabilities
- Enhanced student participation, academic performance, and faculty engagement
- Improved administrative access and student support
- Real-time learning progress monitoring
Program oversight and management are provided by the following colleges, in collaboration with the Academic Senate and Curriculum Committee:
- College of Interdisciplinary Studies
- College of Health Sciences
- College of Innovation and Intelligence
- College of International Business
To support continuous improvement, STU has established a Self-Evaluation Committee responsible for ongoing academic assessment and institutional development.
